Beyond Science: The ART of Adjusting

As much as everybody thinks adjusting somebody is a skill, it’s also an art form.

Laying your hands on another human’s body, on another person’s spine and feeling their energy and knowing the exact adjustment to do at the exact time they need it, is an art.

For instance I’ve got one client who I have adjusted 20+ times and each time it’s been the right adjustment but at the wrong time.

When I saw them again the other day instead of doing as I would normally I did a different technique first. One I hadn't done with them before, and very rarely do with any of my clients or members.

I then set up the same adjustment I've done with them 20+ times.

It was a completely different experience for the both of us.

So much so the client felt the need to comment on how good it felt.

For me? rather than feel like you’re pushing into a brick wall it was like a hot knife through butter.

The sense of ease, calmness and relaxation immediately after that adjustment was amazing.

It was amazing for the both of us.

This is something they can’t teach you at university or on a course. It comes from thousands and thousands of adjustments, 100+ clients a week for years.

It’s knowing that the nervous system wants to receive a very specific stimulus at the perfect time.

It takes a lot of skill, confidence and continuity in what you do to set up what you know is the adjustment they need, but then to step off having not done it, knowing it wasn't the right time they needed it.

To feel that the nervous system is at a point of true ease, and deliver with intent and confidence, in the belief in what you are doing has the clients best interest at heart.
