Wake up, scroll social media, scoff down some crappy breakfast, and leave the house with your body and soul dehydrated

Sound like you ?

Whether you are a morning person or not, avoid starting your day like this  !

Personally I am a morning person.

I get up between 05:00-07:00, which varies depending on my daily schedule. I always try to get 7-8 hours of sleep where possible, so if I'm busy until 21:00 and my body needs that extra rest, I will sleep from 22:00-06:00. If I am feeling well rested and all is well , I may get up a little earlier.

You don't have to do that.

In fact, getting up too early might even be a bad idea for you. But, I can guarantee you that winning the morning will make your life better. A day that starts well is likely to end well.

Here are some of my tips to dominate the morning.

  1.  Wake Early

Yes, I just said you shouldn't wake up too early. But, most of you are wasting time at night and sleeping in until the moment you need to get up. If this is you, you probably start your day off stressed and unprepared. Reactive, rather than proactive. Not a good start.

If you wake even 30-60 minutes early, you buy yourself time to prepare some good food, complete any priority tasks, or even just do your make-up. These little things are enough to make you feel a lot better about the day ahead.

  1. Start at night

This is all about being proactive. Remember, you are probably not your most motivated when the alarm goes off. You are tired, groggy, and you may wish to stay under the covers. Having 10 things to do before you leave the house will probably make the prospect of getting up even less exciting.

This can be overcome by preparing the night before. Choose your clothing. Get your gym bag ready. Fill a bottle of water. Get the coffee out and ready to be made. Plan your meals. Choose what time you are going to the gym. And so on...

Not only does this make your morning easier. It also helps you sleep well knowing that those things are taken care of.

  1. Nourish

Nourishment is not just about what you eat. Yes, of course, have a healthy breakfast if you are someone who eats first thing. But, look beyond just your food...

Hydrate with 1-2 pints of water. Have a shower, or even just wash your face. Listen to some good music that you enjoy, or a podcast, audiobook, etc. Maybe you'd like to do some reading. Say your prayers. Meditate. Whatever gets you going in the morning.

This is the antidote to waking up, scrolling social media, scoffing down some crappy breakfast, and leaving the house with your body and soul dehydrated.

You're better than that.
