My Team Peak Journey So Far!

My Team Peak journey so far.

Self reflection has been on my list of things to do more consistently for a while now, but I’m still not very good at it. There's always an excuse as to why I don't have time, or why it's not a good time to do it.

But what I've learnt is that it's an important part of your growth, not just as an individual, but also in the relationships with those around you.

With 3 new people joining Team Peak this week, 2 of them clinicians, it’s given me the perfect opportunity to reflect on how much I've grown in the two and a half years I've worked here.

My clinical skills and knowledge has increased tenfold since I first started. Sitting in on some of the training sessions with Tom and Lori has reminded me how overwhelming and confusing everything felt in those first few weeks. I realised what I’d learned at uni didn't even scratch the surface of what there is to know about the human body, and it opened my eyes to just how much of an impact I'd be able to make.

My confidence and authority in what I do has also increased drastically. The more I learn, the more I understand, and the easier it is to help the clients I see every day. But it's also better for the clients. If I am absolutely certain that what I am doing is the best possible thing for that client, their trust in me is increased. If I doubt myself, the client doubts me. The more confident I am, the more people I can help.

Like everything in life, my career is a journey. I'm only 2.5 years in, but I am already a very different person now to who I was then. This is reflected in my personal life too, the relationships with those around me have changed for the better, and I'm more present in my own life as well as in theirs.

I'm so grateful to be in the position I am, able to help 100’s of people every month, and help them grow through their struggles too. This is one of the most challenging environments i've ever worked in, but also the most supportive, and I'm thankful to every single person that's helped me get to where I am today.

I can't wait to see what the next 2.5 years hold.
