Do you have clarity in your lifes’ purpose?

This is truly one of life's most unanswered questions, it’s right up at the top with “What’s the meaning of life?” and “Is there extraterrestrial life?”.

But whether the answer is truly obtainable or not, having some clarity and belief behind your actions can only strengthen your convection to perform them at your best.

Here at Peak we have a very clear purpose, “To embody, promote and provide salutogenic healthcare in a pathogenic society.”

We hope that ALL our clients and those that choose to work with us embody this purpose also and that it resonates with them.

Having this clear purpose all enables us as a practice to have ultimate belief in what we do.

As all we have to do to ensure we are making the right decision is as ourselves “Does this aline with our/my purpose?”

If the answer is No, then we don't do it.

If the answer is Yes then it is now our duty and responsibility to ensure it happens, even when we initially don't want to do it.

Maybe an example will help to illustrate my point?

Colgate, the toothpaste companies, purpose is to be “a caring, innovative growth company that is reimaging a healthier future for people, their pets and the planet.”

That is why Colgate currently produces 20+ unique and individual toothpaste for adults alone.

Does producing 20+ different products keep with innovate? Generally speaking, yes.

This is why at Peak we will never recommend our clients to be adjusted once every month when they need to be adjusted twice every week.

We will never recommend a “comeback to us when it hurts again” approach to maintenance, or a symptomatic lead approach to care.

Despite the fact every week we decline taking on clients who want 1 or 2 “cracks” a couple times a year.

Despite the fact we could sell thousands of pounds of supplements and generic exercise plans every month. Which would take very little time and effort to do and I'm sure would make many clients initially satisfied.

Why are we comfortable making those decisions and “losing out” on potential earnings?

Because it is not our purpose.

If our purpose were to give society what they want rather than what they need, then we probably would.

But our purpose couldn't be further away from that statement.

So! If you still with me.

Whether you have a business or charity or nothing at all.

I ask;

  • What is your purpose?
  • Do your current actions align with your purpose
  • Are you happy to stand by your actions knowing they align with your purpose, even if you stand to lose in the short term?
