But What Do You Do??

One question we get asked ALL the time is “ What do you do?” and before i give you an answer, what i'd like you to do is either write it down on a piece of paper or your notes section on your phone or even say it out loud what you think my answer will be.

Great, now you’ve done that, why don't I give you all the stereotypical answers you’d expect to hear; we treat back pain, neck pain, knee pain, get people off pain killers and feel better. That’s an okay answer right. Who wouldn't want to be rid of back pain, it’s estimated to affect 60% of the UK population. That's a great thing surely? And yeah I’d agree , I suppose.

However, what if I were to ask “Would it help if I gave you some examples of what I do?”... “Yes Please do” I hear you scream. Case Study time. I help parents have better connections with their children through playing on the floor. I encourage people to make better health decisions and move closer to their optimal. I support ordinary people in achieving extraordinary goals. I allow people the opportunity to overcome challenges without the need for life changing surgery. I facilitate couples in having a better sex life. Seriously. That last one may be for comedic effect but it's true. These are all goals we set on day one when considering taking clients on.

How better are those goals! Am I right or am I right? And are they that dissimilar, not really. You can only play with your children on the floor when you have no back pain. You can’t have optimal health if you’re in pain, nor can you achieve extraordinary goals, nor have a thriving sex life. So why set the bar low for yourself. They both involve the same symptoms or lack of but one has a far greater and more reaching impact on people's happiness and life than the other.

This goes for everything. Healthcare, PT’ing, work/life ratio (not balance). Rather than accepting the minimum requirement and self limiting your happiness why not aim higher. We’ve all seen those cheesy posters or tattoos “Shoot for the moon and if you fail you may just be amongst the stars”, and all though chessy, is completely on point.
